The Leaves Are Changing

Transition song Five Little Ghosts by The Kiboomers

Vocabulary and Basic Concepts: high/low, fast/slow, cold/colder, big/little, in front/behind/next to, fall, throw, roll, leaf/leaves, tree/trees, autumn, What/Where/Who, green, red, orange, yellow, brown, cow, duck, chicken, bird, turtle, fish, butterfly, garden, friend, animal sounds.

This week, we read the book Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert.

Leaf Man goes on a journey to find a friend.  He sees a lot of different things.  We guessed the animals by the sounds they made.

Then Miss Carrie brought a box of pretend leaves.  She talked about the giant trees at her house and the leaves falling down.  We played with the leaves, talked about leaves, talked about what we see by our homes, and how leaves change color when it gets colder.

Miss Carrie spent the weekend in Park City.  This is what she found when she drove the Alpine Loop.

DO THIS AT HOME:  Go for a walk or a hike.  Find different colors of leaves and collect them.  Talk about colors, shapes, size comparison, and if they are up on the tree or down on the ground.  Finish your walk/hike.
