Transition Song: Wake Up by Dream English

(Note: This is quickly becoming a favorite.  Because it is a My Turn/Your Turn to sing type of song, have your child sing it to you with actions and you follow them.)

First we sang the song.  Then Miss Carrie asked:

Who woke up this morning?
Who washed their face this morning?
Who brushed their teeth this morning?
Who combed their hair this morning?
Who ate breakfast this morning?
Who came to school this morning?

Who exercised this morning?......UH-OH!  Miss Carrie forgot to exercise this morning!

We had to come up with a plan.  We drew on the white board what we wanted to do first, what we wanted to do next, and what we wanted to do last.  Everyone had ideas. Miss Carrie drew them on the whiteboard.  We talked about how Miss Carrie doesn't draw well, but she is going to keep practicing.  (That topic comes up every. single. year.)

Can you guess the exercise plan in these pictures?

First, jumping jacks.  Next, stretching. Last, spinning.

First, stretching. Next, squats.  Last, center split stretching.

When we finished, Miss Carrie asked "Did we do it all?  What did we do first?  What did we do next? What did we do last?

DO THIS AT HOME:  grab some paper and let your child decide what to do and have them draw out their plan.  Gather everyone, turn on some music, and follow the plan.  Repeat and repeat.
